Royal Abstract has been at the forefront of the title insurance business since 1946, providing full service in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and facilitating title policies nationwide.

Its roots actually began even earlier when Irving Shapiro graduated from law school during the Great Depression. Without the prospect of employment, he began conducting the research of real estate records for local attorneys. In 1934, Irving founded New York Abstract Corp., the first full-service title insurance agency in the area. In 1946, he began the Royal Abstract Corp.

Stanley Kravet, the son-in-law of Irving Shapiro, joined the company in 1956 after graduating from New York University and Brooklyn Law School. Stanley represented many real estate operators and developers as their attorney and has participated as title agent in the construction of many of New York's leading landmark buildings.

In 1985, Royal Abstract's third-generation member, Martin Kravet, joined the firm. Martin is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and New York University School of Law. "I feel the combination of my business and law degrees gives me greater insight into the complex transactions we have been handling." said Martin.

The cornerstone of the company's success is its personalized service and legal expertise. Royal Abstract's staff is composed of several in-house attorneys and knowledgeable employees who each average more than 15 years with the firm. All of the company's personnel are cross-trained in the various facets of the business.
